Omni-Scan Familiarization (Phased Array & TOFD) (CODE: AS101)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Omni Scan familiarization course provides the knowledge required to operate equipment functions for phased array and TOFD application. The course covers brief theoretical aspects on phased array and TOFD, code requirements on use of phased array and TOFD as per ASME code case 2235 and B31.3 code case 181. For this course we strongly recommend participants possess Level II or Level III certification in ultrasonic testing and good working knowledge and hands on practical experience in ultrasonic testing of welds.

• calibration requirements (DAC, TCG Plotting, encoder)
• Limitations of detection and resolutions
• Guidelines on preparing setup file and retrieving data
• Linear and sectorial scan definitions
• Data acquisition
• Brief interpretation of data
• System linearity assessment

COURSE DURATION

5 Days (40 hours) of training
40% class-room training with power point presentation, lecture and Q&A
60% hands-on practical on A-Star engineered weld flaw samples.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Any Level II or III UT technician aspiring to acquire the knowledge on application, advantages and limitation of PAUT/TOFD and familiarize and understand the operation of Omni Scan equipment.

We provide training material, Omni scan equipment & probes, calibration blocks and sample specimens for practical training.
